Hiroya Kurata is a Japanese painter based in US. He earned his BFA from Parsons School of Design in 2003 and has worked for over fifteen years in art conservation, gaining a deep appreciation for the history and materiality of art.

Informed by his bicultural upbringing between Japan and the United States, Kurata’s paintings explore memory, time, and the quiet beauty found in everyday life. His work reflects on personal and urban narratives, seeking to preserve fleeting moments within a rapidly changing world.
